Kadir Has University (KHAS) was founded in 1997, in Istanbul. The university, with its six undergraduate faculties, two graduate schools and two vocational and applied schools, is dedicated to become a leader in Turkish higher education and an international center for research and scientific development.

If you are a full-time international student, an exchange student or an Erasmus student, coming to study in our undergraduate or graduate programs, your study location will be Cibali Campus. The campus is located in the heart of Istanbul, only a few minutes away from both from the historical Sultanahmet Square and from Taksim- the famous center of culture, entertainment, business, and shopping.
The central location of the Campus offers our students an opportunity to stay connected to the beaming life of Istanbul. Cibali Campus is the place where history and contemporary Istanbul life are blended to create a perfect academic atmosphere. In 2002, the historical Tekel Cibali Cigarette Factory was transformed by the Kadir Has Foundation into the university campus. Now the Campus combineselegant facades, sunny atrium, and large, airy interiors with quality education and research facilities.
If you are coming to study in a 2-year associate program, your study location will be Selimpasa Campus, located on the Marmara Seashore in Silivri, Istanbul. Our English Language School is located on Bahcelievler Campus.
Academic Induction
Academic Year
The academic calendar at Kadir Has University consists of two semesters- Fall and Spring, each 14 weeks long, including mid-term examinations. The duration of semesters does not include weekends, national and public holidays, and final exam dates. Regular academic year runs approximately from the middle of September to the end of May with a three-week term break, usually starting around mid-January. The regular duration of studies for undergraduate degrees in eight semesters and four semesters for associate degrees, excluding English preparatory year. In addition to fall and spring semesters, the university offers summer programs. Even though the summer programs are not mandatory and fees are not included in the yearly tuition, it is a great chance for students to fast track their studies, retake some classes, complete a course for their major, fulfill a core curriculum requirement or explore a new area of interest.
All academic programs at Kadir Has University have been designed to meet the requirements of the Bologna process, Europe-wide accreditation system and European Higher Education Qualifications Frameworks. Kadir Has University has adopted the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) as its credit system.
Grading System
Undergraduate programs have a regular semester credit load of 30 ECTS credits. Students with cumulative GPA of 2.0 can increase their workload up to 36 ECTS credits. T hosestudents, who arein their final semester, can additionally increase their load by 6 ECTS credits. Minimum credit load is 18 ECTS credits (22 ECTS credits for the Faculty of Law) and the maximum credit load is42 ECTS.
Master programs vary from 90 to 120 ECTS (three to four semesters) with both thesisand non-thesisoptions. Doctorate programs are 240 ECTS, always with qualifying examination and a thesis.
Graduate students must complete at least 30 ECTS credits within an academic semester (16 weeks including exam periods).
Diploma Equivalency
Before arriving to Turkey and to Kadir Has University for the official registration, please make sure you received an equivalency letter for your high school diploma. If there is an Education Attaché in your country, you can obtain the high school certificate of equivalency before departing to Turkey. If not, you can get it by applying to the Provincial National Education Directorate in Istanbul. Please ask officials at the Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Turkey whether there is an Education Attachéin your country. You might want to arrive 1-2 days in advance to complete the equivalency procedure.

– Diploma or certificate indicating that the student is entitled to obtain a diploma.

Graduate students will be required to obtain the University recognition confirmation from the Turkish Council of Higher Education.
Dining Facilities
One of the important aspects for students on campus is dining options. We receive many questions from prospective applicants about where can they eat on campus, what kind of foods are available and the most important, whether the food on campus is good. Kadir Has University provides affordable on-campus dining options for its students.
A wide variety of cafés and restaurants offer nutritious and healthy meals. You can choose custom-made salads, macaroni’s or Panini’s, wraps or pizza, fresh deli sandwiches, or home-style favorites. If you like a little bit of everything, try our all-you-can-to-eat buffet in the main restaurant. We also offer many vegetarian, low-calorie, low-fat, and low-carb items. On the Cibali Campus you can start your day with a cup of freshly brewed coffee and pastry from Starbucks, get a snack or a beverage from the numerous vending machines located around the campus, treat yourself with a full course lunch while enjoying a spectacular view of the old city at Yemekhane Restaurant, and have a cup of tea with your friends at a Pigastro Cafe.

If you look for more upscale dining options at Kadir Has University, you might want to try a variety of meals at the applied restaurant of the ChefSchool Culinary Academy, a part of the Lifelong Education Center. The restaurant offers a great selection of international meals from a la carte menu as well as daily surprises from our master chefs.
With the variety of food, flexible hours, culinary-trained chefs, and caring staff, you might think that our meal plans are expensive. No way! In fact, we take care of keeping the prices lower than at other universities in Istanbul with similar meal plans

Kadir Has Dormitories
Kadir Has University offers a limited number of dormitory accommodations for international students. Kadir Has Residence Hall consists of two separate female and male dormitories. A female dormitory is located within walking distance from the main campus. Halic, within 15 min. university shuttle ride.
Student dormitories feature semi-private bathrooms, laundry rooms, cable TV and 24-hour internet access and mini kitchens equipped with refrigerators, microwaves, and kettles. The standard room is furnished with bookshelves, single or bunker beds, chairs, and private cupboards.

The Kadir Has Main Campus is aptly situated on the Golden Horn, the cultural heart of historic Istanbul. Since it is in the center of the city, it is easily reachable by public transportation. There are many small apartments, dormitories affiliated with the university, hotels and small apartments nearby, where students may easily find lodging in accordance with their needs and budgets. The International Collaboration and Education Office will guide the students in finding appropriate accommodation.
Off Campus
There is no available space for Erasmus and Exchange students. Off-campus housing is available in private residences. We can recommend 3 residences or alternatively you can find your own accommodation. Sabiha Hanım Dormitories
Sabiha Hanım Dormitories have been serving to Turkish and foreign students staying in Istanbul only for university education since 2007.
The dormitories are located in the city center of Istanbul and it takes 10-15 minutes to the social and cultural regions and Kadir Has University by public transportation. Beyoglu and Haseki branches serve male students including breakfast and dinner at a price range of 2.500 USD – 4.000 USD according to the room type.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
To apply to Kadir Has University you will have to complete the following documents below and fill an application form. Before starting your application please make sure that you have a ready to upload electronic copies of the required documents.
All acceptance decisions are determined based on the recommendation of the relevant admission committee and the approval of the Senate. The validity period of university entrance examinations is two years as of the date of their administration. High school exit examinations do not have any limitation on the period of validity.
Undergraduate Students
Applicants must be graduated from High School or those who are expected to graduate must successfully complete their studies prior to the enrollment date in order to be able to enroll in the university.
The minimum High School Certificate score requirement for students applying to undergraduate programs is 60% (out of 100%).

-Copy of your Passport with a personal information page on it. If you don’t have a valid international passport at the time of application, please upload a copy of your national ID.
-Copy of an official document signifying successful completion of high school diploma in many countries (if it is not in English or Turkish, it must be translated)
-Copy of an official high school transcript national or internationally recognized test results or provisional results if not available by the time of submission.
-Copy of English language proficiency test results if available.

TOEFL-IBT min. 78, 2 years valid (Kadir Has University institutional code is 7524). If taking in Turkey, the testing center has to be at the State Turkish University.

Alternatively, students can attend KHAS English Proficiency exam prior to the registration to University. Students who cannot demonstrate sufficient English proficiency must attend the KHAS English Preparatory Program for up to 1 year before they can start their undergraduate program.
Citizenship Criteria:
In order to be able to apply to the graduate programs at Kadir Has University you will have to satisfy one of the following citizenship criteria:
-Be a foreign citizen,
– Be a natural-born citizen of the Republic of Turkey, who has abandoned his/her citizenship upon the approval of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, and hold the Official Document for The Use of Rights Granted by The Law No: 5203
– You are a natural-born citizen of a foreign country but later acquired the citizenship of the Republic of Turkey.
The applications from the following students will be accepted:
-Foreign students who are either high school graduates or are studying their last year in high school,
-Natural born citizens of the Republic of Turkey, those who have abandoned their citizenship upon the approval of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, and those who hold the Official Document for The Use of Rights Granted by The Law No: 5203, which is issued for their children under the full legal age who are registered on the document that certifies the abandonment of Turkish citizenship
-Students with dual nationality (Turkish or TRNC) who acquired, not inherited their Turkish/TRNC citizenship (Those with dual nationality, who were natural-born citizens of a foreign country but later acquired the citizenship of the Republic of Turkey)
-Turkish or TRNC citizenships and who started their middle school education abroad before 01/02/2013 and completed last three years of their high school education abroad
-Turkish or TRNC citizenships and who started their middle school education abroad after 01/02/2013 and completed their entire high school education abroad
-Citizens of TRNC who have completed their entire high school in TRNC and have GCE A/L result.
Graduate Students
Applicants must be either graduates of or graduating from an undergraduate program in case of applications for a master’s program; and an undergraduate or a master’s program in case of applications for a doctoral program, respectively.
Among admitted applicants, those who are expected to graduate must successfully complete their current programs prior to the enrollment date in order to be able to enroll in the university.
The minimum undergraduate diploma GPA requirement for students applying to graduate programs is 2.00/4.00.
The minimum master’s degree diploma GPA requirement for students applying to PhD programs in 2.50/4.00
The minimum undergraduate diploma GPA requirement for students applying to PhD programs is 3.00/4.00.

-For diplomas awarded abroad, a copy of the diploma equivalency certificate issued by YÖK’s International Equivalency Office, certifying the equivalency of the diploma to that of a Turkish higher education institution (the letter of equivalence must be submitted by the end of the first semester).
-A copy of the Graduate Programs Entrance Exam Score Report. The following examinations are accepted at Kadir Has University: GRE (min.149); GMAT (min. 450); GAT (Accumulative Percentile min.60); ALES (min.55).
-Copy of English language proficiency test results
-Transcript showing all courses taken and grades achieved in all higher education institutions the applicant has so far attended or graduated from. If the transcript does not provide any description about the grading system, separate documents must be provided for the grading system of the relevant institutions.

TUITION FEES
KHAS has an extensive scholarship program to support well-qualified international students in their studies at KHAS. 25% to 50% tuition waiver scholarships are available for undergraduate studies. 25%, 50% and 100% tuition waiver scholarships are available for Masters (with thesis) and PhD programs.

Every international student application for a KHAS academic program is evaluated for a scholarship. No separate scholarship application is necessary. Tuition reduction scholarships are awarded based on academic merit. High international or national examination scores and graduation grades are taken into consideration. Tuition reduction scholarships, are subject to maintain a min. of 1.8 GPA at the end of each academic year.
